As the world rapidly shifted to virtual communication during the COVID-19 era, Professor Graham Barrett, a distinguished ophthalmologist, noticed something amiss.
While technology allowed us to connect across distances, the intimacy of genuine eye contact was lost in cold pixels and impersonal screens.
Recognising this disconnect, and drawing from his deep understanding of the human eye and its role in building relationships, as well as a track record of successfully medical device development, Dr. Barrett set out to reinstate authentic eye contact in our digital interactions.
From this vision, Lumirah was founded and with it, the first device, the iVi, an embodiment of Dr. Barrett’s commitment to preserving human connection in a digital age.
